Screaming Clock Music, Inc. was founded in 1992, in the Tampa Bay area by Dave Preston. Located about 25 miles NW of Tampa in Port Richey, Florida, the company continues to grow as we maintain our pledge to strive for musical excellence and ethical publishing practices. We are publisher affiliates of BMI and an organizational member of the CMA (no easy feat) which only adds to our credibility. Throughout the years we have been in existence, we have attracted quite a staff of dedicated and talented personnel that have gravitated toward us. Does that say something about us and where these gifted people think we are going? We like to think so! The people that have joined our company could have written their own ticket anywhere, yet they are here with us. We tend to think that makes a bold statement about Screaming Clock Music and where we are heading now. While our primary goal at the onset of Screaming Clock was purely music publishing, clear thinking and fiscal responsibility led us to diversify, thereby opening the doorways toward other ventures which help to fuel the fire that is Screaming Clock Music.

After the publishing side of the business was established, the recording studio was the obvious next step for us to take. Since it is our responsibility as publishers to put our resources behind our writers, we felt that we ourselves should have our own recording studio where we have control. Having experienced and talented engineers and arrangers already part of "our family" it seemed like the sensible thing to do. Most studios seem to have a revolving door/fast food attitude toward their clients. Get 'em in, get 'em out, and watch the bottom line. We don't subscribe to that line of thought. We not only want quality material to shop, we also want superior productions geared toward the audiophile. This way we are ALWAYS proud to stand behind anything that goes out our door be it the material, the sound quality or production value. The recording studio then led us to branch out into graphic arts (to satisfy the needs of those artists and performers who book time in our studio) when we are in between projects. We are extremely proud of who we have become over the years and are enthusiastic and driven about the goals we have set for our future. Watch out world, WE ARE coming at you!

Our Bios

Dave Preston -  The founder of the company, he has been involved in engineering, recording, arranging, producing and writing of original music for over twenty years.  A multi-instrumentalist playing (in order of proficiency) guitar, bass and keyboards.  He was also one of the founding members of the now defunct band "Shakespeare's Dog".  He currently has twenty published works through BMI and is a member of the CMA.  He is also one half of the Graphic Arts Dept.  With an outgoing personality and warped sense of humor, he very rarely fails to make you feel at ease in the studio, even if you are a novice.  He believes comfort and peace of mind both contribute greatly to creativity.  A must have ingredient for an outstanding finished product.  Like everyone else on the staff, he takes great pride in his work.

Dave Grod  -  Dave comes to us with a long list of musical credentials, everything from session work to touring with numerous, well established bands in New York, California and Florida.  He arrived here in Florida tired and road weary, after one too many grueling tours.  We tried to gently persuade him (okay so it was closer to accosted) to join our staff.  Relenting finally, he agreed to join us.  When we take him off the rack we will be sure to thank him appropriately.  He is an accomplished bass player, percussionist and singer/songwriter.  Also with an easygoing personality and warped sense of humor, he too helps to lend a comfortable atmosphere to the studio environment.  He is dedicated and diligent in trying to get you the sound you wish to achieve.  We are more than pleased to have him on our staff.

Ron Clausnitzer - Ron joins us fresh from a five year stint of touring live with the group "My Back Pages" of which he was also the musical director.  With his pitch perfect ear, we rely on him to handle all of our vocal and harmony arrangements.  Since he is gifted with the patience of a saint, we also lean heavily on him to manipulate the various parameters on all our technical gadgetry during set-up, mix-down and editing.  As if all this isn't enough, he is one of the most talented guitarists we have heard in a long time and can hold his own on the bass as well.  As of February 2003 he gained his first published work with BMI, congratulations!  He also has an uncanny knack for crossing paths with the movers and shakers of the music industry past and present and it is our good fortune that he has developed friendships with several of them.  His contacts range from New York to Nashville right back here to sunny Florida.  We'd be lost without him.

Cheryl Parker -  She is well connected in every area of the entertainment industry.  Constantly on the move, no moss will ever grow on her.  She is the best asset we have when it comes to making the right contacts.  The words NO and QUIT do not exist in her vocabulary.  If there is a place where we want our foot in the door, she's ready to fly there at the drop of a hat.  We have gotten more accomplished in gaining entry into some very exclusive circles in the short time she has been with us, then we have in the preceding ten years without her. She is a member of:

"The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences"

"The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences"

She is also President of the "Suburban  Hillsborough Chapter of The American Cancer Society"

"Appeared on an episode of the NBC show "Frasier" which aired on May 13th 2003"

She has written for "Emmy Magazine" and "Soap Opera Digest" as well.  We can't even begin to describe how invaluable she is to us.

Marc Kolodziej - Marc hails from Boston, Mass. and unfortunately for him, he zigged when he should have zagged and wound up on our doorstep!  Alas, his misfortune turned out to be our good fortune (but let's keep that our secret, otherwise he'll ask for a raise) we have our hooks in him and we are NOT letting go!  He brings with him quite a resume (he probably just pasted his name on someone else's but it's quite a resume just the same) and we are honored to have him as part of our team.  Definitely a bass players bass player, he has just over seventeen years experience on his instrument (over a third of that taking private lessons), knows theory and can do the unthinkable on the neck of his instrument. The bassist for an original act called "Savannah" he and the band were signed to a three record deal with Z Records in England that sold more than 20,000 CD's throughout Europe and Asia in the late 90's.  He has worked in some of the more established production studios and audio workshops in the Boston area.  Another all around utility man on our staff, he is not only one of our session players, he is also an assistant engineer, oversees our Marketing Department, and will, along with Ron Clausnitzer, oversee the remote recording unit coming in the near future.  We have big plans for Marc unless of course he figures out how to escape first.  Welcome aboard!!

Spud Goodin - Spud has been involved in the music scene between Tampa and Atlanta for the last decade.  He comes to us from Pyramid Records out of Chattanooga, TN.  He is currently our public relations manager and oversees the whole department.  He also scouts the area karaoke contests in search of vocal talent.  He has been deeply involved with the annual “Angelus” benefit, volunteering his time and services to the Redneck Open, Charlie Daniels and WQYK  99.5 FM.  While in Atlanta he was also instrumental in helping to set up the Buckboard competition for unsigned bands to get major label attention.  On the Tampa Bay side of the music business he also co-managed, did PR and promotion for the country band “Wiley Fox” for the better part of a year.  Although not music related, we thought it would be fun to mention that he also co-designed one and completely designed another Coke Machine for Dixie Narco and other vending retailers at Corporate Coca-Cola!  Also with numerous contacts in the retail industry he certainly is a welcome addition to the staff here at Screaming Clock.
